Journey With Budding Stars 2020
After the hugely successful summer cricket coaching camp last year we are again gearing up to host our 6th Summer Cricket Coaching Camp, “FRIENDS JOURNEY WITH BUDDING STARS- SEASON 6” this year as well for boys and girls between the ages 7 and 15 years at the Alexandra Park Cricket Ground on 28th and 29th March 2020 between Time to be confirmed.
Last year, following on from the Camp, we had regular indoor coaching during the winter as well, for all the trainees bringing them up to a competitive skill level. We are pleased to say we succeeded in that endeavour and 18 of those trainees are now playing as a team in the Greater Manchester Cricket league for juniors on a regular basis for the club this year. Few of them have been selected to play for the Lancashire junior team as well.
Buoyed by this success, we intend to continue the good work and train more boys and girls this year, to form multiple teams under various age groups, for the cricket season next year. We have three of our club members qualified as ECB certified Level 2 coaches to assist and carry forward the training all through the year. We also expect as last year to get adequate assistance from Lancashire Cricket Board (LCB) and its officers/coaches.
The aim of this coaching camp is to identify new young cricketing talent in our community, teach them basic techniques and provide skill development programmes. We will continue to provide ongoing training and regular coaching to sharpen their skills and enable them to reach county and national level. This event is supported by English Cricket Board, Lancashire Cricket Board, Coaches Association, Sportivate and British Malayali online portal and guided by Manchester City Council Sports development officers.
