BADMINTON DOUBLES RULES

General Tournament Information/Rules

  1. All teams are required to be present at the venue at 8.30 AM to proceed with registration.
  2. League games commences at 9.00 AM.
  3. Teams are divided into 8 groups based on the draw to be held prior to the tournament date.
  4. Fixtures will be handed over to the teams at registration. Fixtures will be created in advance due to time constraints/organising issues on the day of the tournament. All teams are requested to cooperate with this. Management decision will be final in this regard.
  5. If a team does not arrive within five (5) minutes before the game is scheduled, they may lose that match by default.
  6. Each team will play a 1-set game against all other teams in their group. A win gives the winning team 3 points. The top four teams from each group will qualify for the elimination rounds. If more than one team end up with same points, the total points scored by the teams in the league stage will decide who goes through to the elimination round. If the points are still equal, the winner of the game between those two teams will go through to the elimination round.
  7. From elimination stage onwards, all the matches will be a knock out.
  8. If there are any delays that are beyond our control, management reserves the right to change the format.
  9. We are trying to arrange 1 referee/scorer and 2 linesmen for each game. Any calls/decision taken by these officials are final and no appeals will be entertained. There shall be no interruptions from viewers or other teams or anyone else while a game is in progress.
  10. We do not expect any team members to misbehave with any officials or anybody present in the venue as this will lead to disqualification and no refund of entry fees will be given. Only the captain of the team is allowed to discuss with the umpires/referees.
  11. Due to constraints in space, only players will be allowed to remain in the Sports Hall. All accompanying guests are requested to view the games from the viewing gallery.
  12. As this is a school premise, no alcohol and smoking will be allowed into the compound. CCTV monitoring and community order in place, anybody caught violating the rules will be asked to vacate the premise.
